Outside of college related activity, Joe has continued his ongoing work from the last five years, recording and mixing with independent musicians in his Sample-Studios based workspace, operating as Sonafex Studio. Two of these projects have been released so far this year, the album Guerrilla by Yearning Curve and the debut single by Hawkbastard, Avalon (The Outlaws of Knocknagore and the Search for the Utopian Dream), from their upcoming first EP. Joe has also used Sonafex Studio to design for theatre, working on Tangled Stars production of Fleabag, a very sonically demanding show that saw a solo actor interacting with the disembodied voices of numerous prerecorded characters, which ran at the Kilkenny Alternative Ats Festival in August; as well as NMTs production of Dogfight-The Musical, which ran in the Granary Theatre, Cork, in September; and also the MonfordStageschools upcoming production of Fame! in the Everyman. Joe uses Sonafex Studio in his work as Music Technology tutor at the Cork Academy of Music, using it for preparing classes and projects as well as for grading. |

Joe Cusack is a sound engineer/musician who has been a member of Sample-Studios since its inception in 2011.
2016 has so far seen Joe complete his BMus Degree at the CIT Cork School of Music, began in 2012. Joe used his Sample-Studios workspace to achieve first class honours in both Music Technology and Sound Design, for which he recorded and produced a selection of faithful covers of songs by the American Alt-Rock band Ween, and also was Sound Designer for the CIT Musical Society production of Bare, directed by John O'Brien, respectively. Joe also availed of his Sample-Studios based facility to rehearse for performance based modules, both individual and ensemble based. |
