Kate O’Shea is a visual artist from Kenmare, Co.Kerry. She is based in Cork City where her practice is shared between Sample-Studios and Cork Printmakers.
While studying at Limerick School of Art and Design, O'Shea ran NomNom Cafe in her hometown during the summer months where community events quickly became the main focus. Her experience from the café and her passion for community involvement led to establishing a community-driven festival in July 2014 called NomShtock. The success of this festival and O’ Shea’s continuing academic research in printmaking as a vehicle for social change led to the development of the Arts, Politics and Community free-sheetRumpus and her involvement in The Limerick Spring festival of politics and ideas. O’Shea also set up the community cooking event in Cork, Volxkuche, and has exhibited her art work at venues around the country including TACTIC Cork, Platform Arts Belfast.
