I am described as someone who paints with the camera using a mix of traditional and contemporary methods of the photographic printing process. My tools are pinhole cameras, digital cameras, scanners as well as smart-phone screens, film, print collage, and photograms. The resulting images, taken from present day subjects, evoke a sense of nostalgia about past that never was. But I have to add that I do painting as well and it is interesting to me to see the difference with the photographic process as in I am way more literal.
My next project, in which will have both media included, is a record of the Irish landscape combined into a comparatively few images and will show in Birr Co.Offaly next April.
Currently I have three shows on in Cork, in the cafés Filter at their George’s Quay venue and at St. Peter’s Church, North Main Street, Cork and GulpD, the Triskel Arts Centre, Tobin Street Cork. I will be part of a forthcoming exhibition concerning artist-led spaces and recent graduates curated by Aideen Quirke at CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery, Cork in February 2017.
